Edmonton is also known as "The Festival City" because there take place year-round numerous events, some of the most famous being The Edmonton International Street Performer's Festival (in July), The Works Art & Design Festival (at end of June), The Capital City Exhibition (called also "Capital EX" and considered the most important festival of summer), The Edmonton International Fringe Festival (in August), The Edmonton Folk Music Festival (also in August), The Edmonton Heritage Festival, The Free Will Shakespeare Festival, The Dragon Boat Festival and The Edmonton International Film Festival. With so many festivals and cultural attractions, Edmonton draws every year numerous tourists, so people interested in traveling to the capital city of Alberta are advised to book accommodation well in advance because it could happen that most rooms of hotels in Edmonton to be already occupied!
