Ski Resorts & Ski Packages to Banff CanadaBanff is a small town in Alberta, Canada, renowned as the first incorporated municipality located within a national park (the Banff National Park) and the town with the highest elevation (4,800 feet or 1460 meters) in the country. It is also one of the top ski resorts in North America, being surrounded by majestic mountains like Sulphur Mountain, Mount Rundle, Mount Norquay, or Cascade Mountain. The resort can be reached with ease from Calgary, being located at only 36 miles or 58 kilometers, so some people prefer to book accommodation in this city instead to stay in hotels from Banff, especially in the peak season when the area is pretty crowded.
Actually, Banff features two major ski resorts, Ski Norquay and Sunshine Village, located in close proximity. Ski Norquay features 28 runs on the slopes of Mount Norquay and is served by 3 quad chairs, 1 double and a magic carpet. This ski area has slopes of all levels of difficulty and is the only resort in the region where night skiing is available (just Friday). Sunshine Village is located at 15 minutes car drive to Banff and is famous for the excellent quality of the snow, nicknamed Champagne Powder. There are 107 trails (on Lookout Mountain, Mount Standish, and Goat's Eye Mountain) served by eight person high speed gondola and as result skiing there is a very exciting and rewarding experience.
Attractions in the region are plentiful and not just during winter sport enthusiasts feel like in heaven! Banff is also well known for hot springs and therefore numerous tourists choose packages that include visits to this natural wonders, the most renowned being Banff Upper Hot Springs, located on Sulphur Mountain. Other top activities include hiking and mountain biking (particularly in the Stoney Squaw area). Cultural events are also numerous and some of the best are the Rocky Mountain Music Festival, Banff World Television Festival and Banff Mountain Film Festival.
With so many and high quality ski trails in surrounding, along with high class accommodations and plenty of interesting things to do for the whole family, isn't surprising at all that ski packages to Banff are highly demanded on the Canadian and international travel scene and most hotels have no free rooms in the peak season! There are numerous great winter resorts in Canada, but this one is considered the best by many holiday makers!
